Koretz Wins 5th District Council Seat

5th Council District Hard-fought Election Ends With Paul Koretz Victorious

"It is my pleasure to announce that three weeks after Election Day, it appears that all of the votes have been counted and our campaign has won by over 700 votes.

This hard-fought election is over, and my opponent David Vahedi has conceded. I would like to thank all of my supporters, volunteers, contributors and, of course, my opponents, including David Vahedi.

He ran a very aggressive and intelligent campaign that helped engage voters and bring important issues to light. David and I have one thing in common: we are dedicated to developing a collaborative relationship with the residents of the district.

It is my hope that we will build those relationships and residents will join me in helping to solve our unprecedented financial crisis, developing a regional approach to public transportation, preserving our environment and creating a vibrant business community that respects the needs of our neighborhoods.

I will strive to serve in an atmosphere of integrity and transparency. No one will serve on my staff unless he or she is willing to embrace the mission of service to the public. I have no doubt that communication is the key to rebuilding trust between residents and their councilmember. I am thrilled to be elected to serve on the Los Angeles City Council and I look forward to working with you over the next four years."
