The Mid City West Community Council will hold an election for all 45 seats on its Board of Directors on May 13,2010. Mid City West is an official City of Los Angeles Neighborhood Council with approximate boundaries of Olympic Blvd. and San Vicente Blvd. on the south, West Hollywood on the north, La Brea Ave. on the east, and Beverly Hills on the west.

Budget Cuts Threaten To Close Hollywood Courthouse - Could Impact Public Safety

If you are concerned about crime in and around our area then you need to know that the proposed closure of the Los Angeles County Courthouse in Hollywood would be a blow to both the Hollywood and Wilshire Divisions of the LAPD and could adversely effect the quality of life in our neighborhood.

UPDATED : Two Women Found Dead in West Hollywood

1100 Blk of N. Fuller Ave - Friday Morning, January 22nd 

Acting on a tip from a maintenance worker who reported a gas leak at a residence in the 1100  Blk. of N. Fuller West Hollywood Los Angeles County Sheriff's conducted a welfare check at the location and discovered the bodies of two females inside.

Sgt. Diane Hecht said it appears that one victim committed suicide and that the other victim died under "suspicious" circumstances and is being investigated.

The Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center will host a special "welcome" reception and community forum for newly appointed Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department Charlie Beck to be held on Wednesday January 27th from 6-8pm at the The Village located at 1125 N. McCadden Place Los Angeles, CA 90038. Everyone is welcome.

Heavy Rains Cause Damage To Fairfax Theaters - Closes Temporarily

The recent week long delude of rain caused a portion of the roof over the Fairfax Regency Cinemas to collapse on Tuesday January 19th forcing the theater to close for about a week to make needed repairs.

A message on the theaters answering system says that it should be closed until Jan. 28th.

Melgard Public House Debuts At Old Louise's Location

A new restaurant/bar called Melgard Public House has opened in place of the former Louises Trattoria at the corner of Melrose and Gardner Street.

Franck Alix is a partner in the venture. Alix is known for his other locations including Third Stop on 3rd Street and 1739 Public House in Los Felix.

 

El Guapo Cantina Restaurant Closes It's Doors

El Guapo Cantina Restaurant located at the southwest corner of Melrose Avenue and Alta Vista Blvd. has apparently closed it's doors for good according to signs posted at the location.

According the their own website they state that they lost their lease and they are closed forever. The restaurant was open for 6 years.

New Storefront Offering "Medical Recommendations" For Marijuana Opens On Melrose

UPDATE:  Another Medical Evaluation location opened the next day at the corner of Poinsettia Pl. and Melrose Ave.
